Shreyak’s “”basics of styling in photography’ session was extremely informative and practical. He started with talking about the different avenues of photography which intrigued all the participants to learn more about the art of photography. He spoke about the ‘team’ of photographers, stylists, costume designers, models, and creative editors and about the role of each team member – and about how the team is managed, the communication within the team and Dos and Donts of each team member. He mentioned the “”role & importance”” of stylists.
He mentioned some important points such as –
He also gave us insights on styling flat-lays and capturing flat-lays. He spoke about the art behind the lighting, be it artificial lights or natural light and how lighting can effect the mood, look, frame of the picture. Then he spoke about two more avenues of photography apart from fashion – food photography and flat-lays, both of which interested the participants that they didnt even want to have a break in between the sessions. After the technicalities of photography and styling, he taught us how to use our own phones for photography. He taught the ‘rule of 3’ method and the grid method to frame a picture. He spoke of editing softwares and apps for changing the saturation, hue, tone of the pictures and showed how it works then and there.
He showed a few poses, and taught us with examples of how to make the model comfortable. After the session, participants had a one on one discussion with him and clarified their doubts and got their pictures clicked. Few participants also implemented the concept of “”flat-lays”” immediately after the session, which shows participants had an interesting learning experience.
